The ensemble tenThing was founded in 2007 by Norwegian trumpeter Tine Thing Helseth. This is a ten-member, all-female wind ensemble, renowned for its mastery, democratic nature, and diversity of programs performed. The collective’s repertoire includes music from Mozart to Weill, from Grieg to Bernstein, from Lully to Bartók. With a touring history spanning the USA, Canada, and major European festivals – such as the Schleswig-Holstein, Bonn Beethoven, Gstaad, and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern festivals, the MDR Musiksommer, and the Thuringia Bachwochen  – the ensemble has earned widespread acclaim. Performing their vast and diverse repertoire completely leaderless, they emphasize a rare depth of mutual listening and chamber artistry, while redefining gender roles within the wind music community.
Tine Thing Helseth is one of the most prominent contemporary Norwegian trumpeters, playing with the world’s most famous orchestras, such as the Vienna Symphony, London Philharmonic, and BBC Symphony Orchestra, and has earned recognition at prestigious festivals, including the BBC Proms. In 2006, she won second place in the Eurovision Young Musicians Contest, in 2007 she was awarded the prestigious title of Musician of the Year (Årets musiker) in Norway, and in 2013 she was awarded the prestigious Echo Klassik of the Year Award.
