Fanfare Française
Timbre, colour, nuances – these qualities can certainly be called the genetic code of French music. The 19th-20th century composers Louis Hector Berlioz, Paul Abraham Dukas and Joseph Maurice Ravel were among the most prominent French composers who charted new trajectories on sonic horizons, created a distinctive aesthetic, and influenced countless contemporary artists. The noble and vital nature of the music created by these composers has inspired the State Wind Instrument Orchestra Trimitas to present a colourful programme titled Fanfare Française. In addition to works that have already become classics, the concert will also feature the 21st century opuses Danse Satanique by Alexandre Kosmicki and a kindred musical work to it, Mont Ferrutx by the British composer Derek Bourgeoise from his Eighth Symphony.

Postcards from Argentina | Tango Charm
There are styles of music whose ambassadors are often synonymous with that style. This year marks the centenary of the Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992), the godfather of tango. His influence on the popularity of the style is undoubtedly still relevant today, with tango variants, variations and echoes abounding in the works of contemporary composers. Alongside the magical Piazzolla, the concert featured works by Alfred Reed, George Gershwin, Igor Stravinsky, Charles Gounod and other composers – uniquely blending into the tango vortex. The evening’s soloist was Anders Paulsson. a Swedish soprano saxophone master, concidered one of the world’s foremost ambassadors of the instrument.
In Search of Truth | Echoes of North Jerusalem
This concert was dedicated to Vilna Gaon, the most famous Jewish sage of the 18th century, a religious authority who shaped the distinctiveness of the Jewish community in Lithuania. The concert featured three premieres of works commissioned by Trimitas specifically from Jewish composers of Lithuanian origin. The highlight of the concert was the opus for solo violin and wind orchestra In Search of Truth (2020) by Vyacheslav Ganelin, one of the most prominent Lithuanian composers of jazz, cinema and modern music. It was performed by the violin virtuoso and winner of numerous international competitions Rūta Lipinaitytė. According to Vyacheslav Ganelin, the title of both the work and the concert as a whole is ‘particularly relevant to this epoch, when the impression is that relativism is the “truth” that should determine people’s thoughts, decisions and behaviours’.
Fanfare Timofei Dokschitzer | Sergei Nakariakov and Trimitas
Having started his career at a time when the trumpet had not yet found its place in the world of serious music, Timofei Dokschitzer has become one of the world’s most prominent musical personalities, a living legend of the trumpet, a virtuoso, who has recorded more than two hundred albums. Having lived in Moscow for almost six decades, performed extensively, conducted masterclasses worldwide, from Japan to the United States, and been invited to serve on the juries of international competitions, Timofei Dokschitzer spent the last decade of his life in Vilnius.
